Prior to having their vasectomy reversal procedures, many of our patients had a lot of questions about the surgery. Quite a few of those questions centered on the recovery process.
We understand that a man’s sex life is very important to him. Although you desire to undergo a surgical procedure for the purpose of adding to your family, it’s disheartening to think about putting your sex life on hold, even for a little while.
You’ll be happy to know that the recovery time for vasectomy reversal surgery is around two weeks. Each of our patients is different, however, and your required recovery time might be different than another patient’s. During this time, you will be concentrating on resting so that you heal adequately and quickly. You’ll be taking a week off from work, so you’ll have plenty of time to put your feet up and relax.
We also encourage our patients to use the time they spend recovering from surgery to reacquaint themselves with their spouse or partner. It’s typical for couples to concentrate completely on conceiving; so much so that they neglect their emotional intimacy a bit at times. This is the perfect time for you to spend hours discussing anything you’d like to discuss. Why not hold hands and watch a movie together or work on a puzzle? Anything you can do to build your relationship will benefit you both in the long run.
If you’re considering having your vasectomy reversed, you probably have a lot of questions as well. Some of them might be difficult to ask. However, more than anything, we want you to feel comfortable talking with our staff. It’s our job to be sure all of your most pressing questions get answers.
