Due to the demand of Mr Harriss performing vasectomy reversals for those who live overseas or even far from Nottingham in Wales, Scotland and Ireland, we have put together some information to assist you.
The aspects that appear to cause the greatest concern are the following:
When can I fly home?
All can fly home the following day but please note that you will not be able to leave the hospital until around about 10am so please plan all arrangements with this in mind.
For those planning to fly long-haul (Dubai, Saudi Arabia, China, Phillipines, New Zealand for example) will be supplied and fitted with anti-embolism stockings whilst in the hospital. These will need to be worn home on the plane.
Testimonial Nov 2011: Hi Bev, Please tell Dr Harris we are back in China and we are very happy with the experience and quality and attention we recieved. We hope we can give good news in a few months
Where can I stay before or after the vasectomy reversal?
Some people have decided to stay the night elsewhere before they need to attend the BMI The Park Hospital. Others have decided that they wanted to spend a night or so close by before they flew home. We have had very favourable reports from the Cockliffe Hotel which is about a 3 minutes drive from the hospital. They offer a discounted rate for those attending the BMI Park Hospital, Nottingham where your surgery will take place. Through their website you can book online.
Where do I have the 3 month post op analysis?
We do not expect you to fly back but if you do plan to return, even if it isn’t at exactly 3 months post -op, then you can have your analysis performed then. It will need some planning so if this is your intention, please complete the form here around 3 weeks before you intend to travel to the UK. CARE Fertility will only see you for your analysis Monday to Friday afternoon appointments only.
If you do not intend to return, you can have your analysis locally and if you send the report to Mr Harriss, he will be happy to pass comment on the results for you.
Testimonial: My husband had a vasectomy reversal on August 9th and less than 3 months later we found out that we are pregnant!!!! We did a LOT of research before we chose Duncan and we are truly blessed that we did. We flew from overseas as my husband had a vasectomy almost 9 years ago at the age of 35 during his first marriage. Due to the fact that his reversal was done quite a few years ago and that I am 39 years old we felt we had ONE shot and wanted it to be done by someone as talented as Duncan. Having read the testimonials from others helped us to make the decision to trust Mr Harriss and to have him do our reversal.
I just had my first ultrasound today and hear my baby’s heartbeat and I still CAN NOT believe I am pregnant (my first pregnancy). We are almost at the 8 week mark and still have some time to go but wanted to share this amazing news with you as it truly is a miracle for us!!!!
Thank you for being such a talented surgeon and thanks to your team at the hospital that made our stay very comfortable.
Can I Travel By Train?
Yes, you can. We are about 30 minutes from Nottingham station as the hospital is situated 7 miles out of Nottingham. There is a taxi rank outside the station and the hospital can arrange a taxi for your return journey. The cost is approximate at £10-15 each way.
Do you know of any taxi firms that can help get to the airport?
Yes, here are a couple who can pick you up from East Midlands or any other airport. They will give quotations online:
It takes approximately 40 minutes from East Midlands airport to the BMI Park Hospital, 2 to 2 and a half hours from Heathrow.
If you plan to come to Nottingham by train, there are always taxis at the taxi rank and it will take you about 30 minutes to get to the BMI The Park Hospital.
How Do I Book?
You can use the online booking system so that you can reserve the date you need in order to plan your travel arrangements.
